The Itcca at Hong Kong

First day at Hong Kong

Greetings from Hong Kong, a city that has been very important for Tai Chi Chuan for many years: here lived (and that says a lot) Yang Sau Chung, son of the legendary Yang Chen Fu, who also founded of our school, the Itcca. The city is strange, it looks somehow like London, they drive on the right hand side, and resembles New York because of the huge skyscrapers.

Today, after meeting Master Chu who was coming from Shangai, and after drinking a good bottle of Champagne with the representatives from Switzerland, France and Holland (the one from Germany will arrive tomorrow), which was kindly offered by the other Italian representative, Dario Milana, we had a Chinese dinner (obviously) with the Master.
I’ve never eaten like that in a Chinese restaurant, we had some sort of bourguignon, with a big boiling pot in the middle of the table: each one of us was dipping food into it, we had prawns, hen’s feet, tripe, fish and goose entrails, lettuce and much more: eventually the broth you get is delicious!

Some more information about the forthcoming event which will be held here in the Queen Elizabeth stadium, very close to our hotel: it’s a pre-Olympic contest-demonstration festival, and it’s the first one that sees all the major Tai Chi Masters reunited; Master Chu has been officially invited by the Hong Kong government and the demonstration will be held on Monday night.
It’s a very important manifestation for the East world, you can find many posters, there’s many people talking about it, also the event will be broadcasted live on TV.
Master Chu won’t have us practicing tomorrow, instead he will show us around Hong Kong, then from Saturday morning we’ll have a general rehearsal of our demonstration.

The jet lag, 7 hours later than Italy, forces me to go and get some sleep.
